Wayne Burke, a Derby, Kan., education professional, has been appointed assistant superintendent for human resources and administrative services.
Burke will replace Joe Meyers on July 1, who is retiring on June 30. Burke is currently the assistant superintendent for human resources for the Derby School District in Derby and is not new to Spring Hill USD 230. Burke was the principal at Spring Hill High School for five years and assistant principal and activities director for four years. District administrators received 37 applications for the position. Three candidates were interviewed by a committee of seven community and district stake holders. Burke has a masters of science degree from Emporia State University and a doctorate of education degree from the University of Kansas.
