Therman L. Bond, 96, Louisburg, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008. “Babe,” as he was known, was born Nov. 9, 1912, in Etterville, Mo., the son of Arthur D. and Oveary Bond. In June of 1939, he married Treva Kelsay of Eldon, Mo. To support the homeland World War II effort, he moved to Kansas City, Kan., to work for North American Aircraft in 1943. Later he worked from 1946-1971 with General Motors Fairfax BOP assembly plant. In 1974 he retired and he and his wife moved Eldon, Mo., where they lived until 2004. He enjoyed his orchard, vegetable and lawn gardening, and local fishing, as well as summer fishing vacations in Minnesota. His children had many laughs from his candor and wit; yet, from this man of few words, they learned life can be good by exercising common sense, honesty, and fairness. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Truman and Pauline, and in 2003 by his wife, Treva. Survivors include his children, Marilynn Gump of Mission, Arthur Bond of Hartford, Kan., Richard Bond of Leawood, Larry Bond of Louisburg, Gary Bond of Los Angeles, Calif., and 10 grandchildren.
