Jacquelyn J. Brown, 84, Paola, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at her home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Garden City, Kan. She was the only child born to Fern North Moon. The Moons were divorced and Fern later married Lynn Butcher, who raised Jacqueline, who was also known as Jackie. She attended school in Atchinson, Kan., graduating from Atchinson High School in 1942.


On Oct. 26, 1957, she and Eldon Leroy Brown were married in Kansas City, Kan. They became the parents of two children. Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to their rural Paola home in August 1977.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker but had also worked for 10 years at Southwestern Bell. One of her favorite hobbies was flower gardening.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy Brown, of the home; one daughter, Amy Brown of San Francisco, Calif.; one son, David Brown of Denver, Colo.; and one granddaughter.

She was cremated, and no services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.
